It's probably where you can afford to sleep and there's no shortage of new bars, clubs, and restaurants to explore, but please don't treat it like a college campus. I'm not going to argue the pros and cons of the steady march of capital. It's currently in the throes of gentrification and its long time residents are justifiably a bit touchy.
This is probably the cheapest neighborhood in which to stay and socialize.
